Where
to find Chinese auto parts suppliers?
1.
Trade Portals in China:
Identifying Chinese auto parts suppliers via trade portals is the
cheapest way. The most useful 2 trade portal for auto parts are as
follows:
Alibaba - www.alibaba.com
Global Resources - http://www.globalsources.com/
You
can put your buying lead at the 2 websites or search suppliers via the
trade portals. I suggest that you be cautious on putting buying leads at
trade portals as you may receive too many emails that may jam your email
boxes and waste too much of your time. There are also some specialized
trade portals in auto parts but I have not seen any of them can match
the top 2 in terms of supplier number and credibility.
2.
Trade Shows in China:
Although more and more Chinese auto parts suppliers have begun to join
international shows such as AAPEX, the number is still limited. Joining
a trade show held in China is a effective way to identify potential
Chinese suppliers.
Canton Fair is the largest export trade show in China. It is held twice
each year - on Apr. 15 and Oct. 15. You can find more information at http://www.cantonfair.org.cn/.
China Automobile Parts Fair (CAPF) with about 1,800 suppliers appears to
be the largest auto parts show in China. Website: http://www.qipeihui.com/english/index.php
. It is held twice each year. It is mainly for our domestic market.
Automechanika
China is a major trade show for aftermarket products in China. Auto
Shanghai or Auto Beijing is a major trade show for automobiles but you
can also find many quality Chinese auto parts suppliers there.
There are also many regional shows or specialized shows in China. You
can pay attention to auto shows held in the following areas: Beijing,
Shanghai, and Guangzhou - Beijing is our capital and a lot of auto parts
suppliers in north part of China will join a show there; Shanghai is a
center for Yangtze River delta, and Guangzhou is a center for Pearl
River Delta. If you are looking for auto electronics, Shenzhen or
Hongkong is a good show place.
3.
Directories:
I suggest a very useful website on auto books where you can buy
directories on Chinese auto suppliers: http://www.autobook.com.cn/web_en/Indexen.asp.
When you choose directories, you need to make sure that the source of
information is authoritative. China Association of Automobile
Manufacturers (CAAM) is an authoritative source of information.
4.
Chambers of Commerce in China:
There are a lot of foreign Chambers of Commerce in China who can help
you. If you are an American company, you ask United States of
America-China Chamber of Commerce to help you. I list the websites of
some Chambers of Commerce in China as follows:

You can use a consultant based in China to help you identify Chinese
suppliers. Our company can provide this kind of services. If you do not
have enough China knowledge and experience, using a local consultant in
your China sourcing process is a cost effective and risk free
approach.
6.
Local Research:
You can set up your own purchasing office in China and conduct local
research. This is the most effective but most expensive way.
I
list 6 ways to identify Chinese auto suppliers. Each way has its
advantages and disadvantages. You can try several ways in the same time.
Before you start to search Chinese auto suppliers, I suggest that you
acquire necessary knowledge about China auto industry.
